Clean Living, Beautiful Homes: How What We Eat Shapes How We Live

Over the years, I have come to understand something simple, yet deeply meaningful:

The way we care for our bodies reflects the way we care for our homes.

From traveling the world, to designing homes on television, to now helping families find and create spaces they love, there has always been one constant: our environment shapes how we feel. And for me, that begins with how we nourish ourselves.

A home should feel as good as it looks.

A Clean, Intentional Approach to Food

I have always been rooted in simplicity and awareness.

I follow a pescatarian way of eating, focused on fresh vegetables, whole ingredients, and clean, nourishing meals, with fish occasionally woven in. It is not about restriction, but rather about intention. Choosing foods that support both our bodies and the environment allows us to live with greater clarity and energy.

There is a quiet confidence that comes from eating well. It brings balance, focus, and a sense of calm that carries into every other area of life.

The Kitchen as the Heart of the Home

In every home I have worked in, whether on set, in design, or now through real estate, the kitchen tells the story.

It is where life unfolds.

It is where conversations begin, where routines are created, and where connection naturally happens. The energy of a home often lives within this space.

It does not need to be extravagant. It needs to be lived in.

When we fill our kitchens with fresh, vibrant ingredients and take the time to prepare meals with care, the entire feeling of a home shifts. It becomes more grounded, more welcoming, more real.

Simple, Fresh, and Real

I have always believed that food should feel approachable.

Meals do not need to be complicated to be meaningful. In fact, the most memorable meals are often the simplest, prepared with intention, shared with presence, and enjoyed without distraction.

Fresh vegetables, seasonal ingredients, clean flavors. Food that supports how we want to feel, not just in the moment, but throughout the day.

Living Well, Inside and Out

Today, as I guide clients through buying and selling their homes, I often reflect on how people live within their spaces.

True luxury is not just in finishes or square footage. It is in the experience of everyday life.

The way we start our mornings. The meals we prepare. The moments we create with the people around us.

These are the details that define a home.

From My Kitchen to Yours

In this space, I will share a collection of meals that reflect the way I live: clean, simple, and nourishing. Recipes that are easy to prepare, grounded in fresh ingredients, and designed to support a lifestyle of balance and beauty.

Because a well-lived home is not just designed.

It is felt.

Didiayer’s Coastal Lemon Herb Salmon Bowl

A simple, nourishing dish that brings together fresh ingredients and clean flavors. This is one of those meals that feels effortless, yet complete.

Ingredients

  • 2 fresh wild-caught salmon fillets

  • 1 lemon

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • Sea salt and freshly ground pepper

  • 2 cups mixed greens (arugula, spinach, or spring mix)

  • 1 cup cooked quinoa or brown rice

  • 1 avocado, sliced

  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved

  • Fresh herbs (parsley and dill work beautifully)

Preparation

Preheat your oven to 375°F.

Place the salmon fillets on a lined baking tray. Drizzle with olive oil, squeeze fresh lemon over the top, and season lightly with sea salt and pepper. Bake for approximately 12–15 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily.

While the salmon is cooking, prepare your base. In a bowl, layer the mixed greens and quinoa or brown rice.

Once the salmon is ready, place it gently over the greens. Add sliced avocado, cherry tomatoes, and a sprinkle of fresh herbs.

Finish with an additional squeeze of lemon and a light drizzle of olive oil.

Meals like this are not about perfection.

They are about creating space to slow down, to nourish yourself, and to enjoy the experience of being home.

And in many ways, that is where everything begins.
