Vegan Chocolate Avocado Mousse

I'm always looking for ways to add sweet sweets without a lot of processed sugars. I dared not share with my girls that I used avocados to make this before they tried it. This rich and creamy dessert is not only dairy-free but also a healthier alternative to traditional chocolate mousse - and guess what? They LOVED it. Thank you to the all-mighty avocado!!! This dessert is not only dairy-free but also packed with healthy fats from avocados. It's a perfect guilt-free treat for chocolate lovers.

Ingredients:

  • 2 ripe avocados

  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1/4 cup maple syrup or agave nectar (adjust to taste)

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • A pinch of salt

  • Optional toppings: fresh berries, shredded coconut, chopped nuts

Instructions:

  1. Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a food processor.

  2. Add the cocoa powder, maple syrup (start with 1/4 cup and adjust for sweetness), vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt to the avocados in the food processor.

  3. Process all the ingredients until you have a smooth and creamy mousse. You might need to stop and scrape down the sides of the food processor a few times to ensure everything is well-mixed.

  4. Taste the mousse and adjust the sweetness by adding more maple syrup or agave if necessary. Process again to combine.

  5. Once your mousse is velvety and sweetened to your liking, transfer it to serving dishes or small bowls.

  6. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let it chill and firm up a bit.

  7. Before serving, you can garnish with fresh berries, shredded coconut, or chopped nuts, or get creative with your favorite toppings.

  8. Enjoy your dairy-free chocolate avocado mousse!
