We live in a world where we have become accustomed to instant messaging, fast foods, and juggling work and home life. Working a sixty-hour week has become “the norm” for many of us. However, in order for us to keep going we have to take time to relax and unwind from the day to day grin.
Creating time to reflect and rejuvenate your soul is so important to your success in life.
I personally enjoy hiking, practicing yoga, breathing mediation, and spending quality time with my husband. No matter what you do, make sure it is something that is constructive to your mind, body, and soul.
I share with you now an exercise I created sometime ago that offers mental release of the stagnant energy the body holds on to, and a way to rebuild positive energy and restore your spirit.
Start by lying on your back with your arms and legs out to your sides. Close your eyes... Take three long deep breaths, in and out, to loosen your body and encourage your mind to relax.
Now imagine that there is a door on the bottom of each of your feet. Using your imagination, I want you to open those doors.
Picture the stagnant or negative energy in your body with a red glow to it. From the top of your head, mentally start to push the stagnant energy down through your face, your neck, your shoulders all the way down through your body to the bottom of your feet and out the doors.
Remember to keep taking deep breaths, in and out.
Once you have visually seen all the stagnant energy leave your body, you should feel calm and free of any tension. Note: This process can take anywhere from five to ten minutes - so relax and enjoy the process of eliminating this energy from your body, and explore the healing benefits you can create by letting go of negative energy.
With both doors on the bottom of your feet still open, imagine that there is also a door on the top of your head. Again, use your imagination to open that door and breath.
I want you to imagine that new positive energy has a vibrant golden glow to it. With your eyes still closed, visualize a ray of golden light entering the door at the top of your head. Take a deep breath in and out and slowly allow it to flow down the length of your entire body. Once you have channeled the positive energy all the way down your body, close both doors on the soles of our feet, making sure you have washed all the negative energy off before closing them.
Now, envision the positive energy rising in your body all the way up your legs, to your knees, thighs, stomach, lungs, heart, and shoulders, down your arms, and into your hands. Observe the positive energy as it travels back up your arms to your neck and into your mind. Leave no part of your body untouched. Keep breathing in and out throughout this process and allow the positive energy to flow out the top of your head.
Breathe in and our and relax. Lie in this state for a few moments and soak up the wonderful positive feelings it has now brought into your spirit.
After a few more moments, wash and close the door on the top of our head and take one last deep breathe in and out.
While still lying in this state of relaxation, I want you to embrace the peaceful glow that is now encircling your body. Let it move around you, over you and under you. Take that energy, form a message board in the air in front of you, and mentally write a few affirmations like, “I am a positive light and draw only greatness into my life.” Once you have finished, take them, and breathe them into you mind and soul, and relax.
Enjoy the feeling of being filled with positive energy and the power to make changes toward a more abundant life.
Take another deep breath in and out and relax for a few more moments. Then slowly sit, and then stand.
This may have been the first time you have ever opened your mind, body, and soul to experiencing the power of meditation. If so, how did it feel? Did the exercise help you relax? Did it help you gain a stronger vision of where you are and what it is you want to draw into your life?
I hope so!
