The Volusia County Report

If you've driven through Volusia County lately, you've probably noticed something.
New businesses opening their doors.
Families discovering neighborhoods that barely existed a few years ago.
New neighborhoods developing.
Historic downtowns embracing new investment while preserving the character that made them special.
That's why I created The Volusia Growth Report.
Each month, I'll be sharing the stories I believe matter most, not simply because they're making headlines, but because they help tell the story of where Volusia County is headed.
Whether you're already fortunate enough to call Volusia County home, considering relocating to our beautiful coastline, or simply enjoy staying connected to your community, welcome. Let's begin!
FEATURE STORY
Why Volusia's Schools Are Becoming One of Florida's Quiet Success Stories

When families begin searching for a new home, one question almost always rises to the top of the conversation.
"How are the schools?"
This month, Volusia County gave families another reason to feel confident.
For the second consecutive year, Volusia County Schools earned an overall "A" district rating, reflecting improvements across nearly every major area of academic performance. Graduation rates climbed to 96%, while eleven of the district's twelve accountability measures reached their highest levels in more than a decade.
That's more than a statistic.
It represents thousands of students discovering new opportunities.
Dedicated teachers investing in future generations.
Parents choosing to become part of a community that continues raising the bar.
Several schools throughout the county celebrated significant improvements this year, including David C. Hinson Middle School advancing to an "A" rating, while Pine Trail Elementary, Ormond Beach Elementary, Tomoka Elementary and Seabreeze High School continued their strong academic performance.
Strong schools strengthen communities.
They influence where families choose to live, encourage business investment, and contribute to the long-term vitality of our neighborhoods.
It's an accomplishment our entire county can celebrate.

COMMUNITY IMPACT
Helping People Rebuild Their Lives in DeLand
A Different Kind of Development Is Taking Shape in DeLand

When we hear the word "development," most of us immediately think about new subdivisions or commercial construction.
But one of the most meaningful projects currently underway in Volusia County looks very different.
In DeLand, the Neighborhood Center of West Volusia is creating the county's first transitional tiny-home community using repurposed shipping containers.
When completed, the village will provide temporary housing for individuals working toward permanent independence.
Residents will be able to rebuild their lives while saving money, receiving support, and preparing for long-term housing.
It's a reminder that community growth isn't always measured in square footage.
Sometimes it's measured by compassion.

Mama Foo Foo: More Than a Restaurant

Every month I'd like to highlight one place that reminds us why Volusia County is such a wonderful place to call home.
This month...
Mama Foo Foo in Daytona Beach.
Not because it's the newest restaurant in town.
Because it represents something I love about our community.
Volusia County continues attracting creative entrepreneurs who understand that restaurants aren't simply places to eat, they're places where friendships begin, celebrations happen, business relationships grow, and memories are made.
Whether you're gathering with family, entertaining clients, or enjoying an evening with friends, Mama Foo Foo offers an atmosphere built around connection, hospitality, and enjoying life's moments together.
Communities become memorable because of places like these.

From the Editor
"The Volusia Growth Report was created to celebrate the people, places, businesses, and ideas shaping one of Florida's most dynamic counties. My goal is simple: to help residents stay informed, inspire those considering a move here, and tell the stories that make Volusia County such a remarkable place to call home."
